RBJ prescribed for PFI hospital floor

Bristol flooring contractor recently complets over 3,200 sqm of Marley Floors Elite and Eclipse PUR vinyl floorcovering in a newly built hospital in Glastonbury for West Mendip NHS Trust. A series of attractive features and designs from Floorcraft, Marley Floors in-house design team, have been incorporated within the main corridors, outpatients department, wards, and treatment rooms.

Martin Courtney from builders ROK, responsible for the construction of the new hospital and specification of the Elite and Eclipse PUR floor coverings, comments, "The hospital floor needed a seamless surface with welded joints that met our hygiene requirements as well as able to withstand heavy use from trolleys and footfall. We chose various standard designs Floorcraft including a Celtic cross and other abstract images. The finished effect looks very good and compliments the rest of the interior design. This is the first time we have used Elite and Eclipse in a healthcare installation and would have no hesitation in specifying its use again."

Janet Wright is Matron at the Glastonbury Hospital and has first-hand experience of the performance of the surface in a busy working environment. Janet says, "The finish is very good, it is easy to clean and maintain, an important performance factor because it has been used over such a large area of the hospital. We have received a lot of compliments on the designs - especially those in the children's waiting area and the Celtic cross in the main corridor."

Flooring contractors RBJ Flooring were responsible for the installation of Elite and Eclipse PUR at the hospital. Jim heal from RBJ says of the work, "This was a large installation project and it all went very smoothly. The completed floor looks superb and we would definitely recommend it on future projects."

Elite and Eclipse PUR offer an extensive and eye catching colour palette of 40 tone-on-tone colours and are ideal for creating designs and imagery within flooring. The vinyl is flexible and easy to manipulate, enabling small, intricate cut outs for complex designs. At the same time it is durable and hardwearing, suitable for demanding locations such as hospitals and schools.

A unique Pro-Tech polyurethane reinforced wear layer gives an improved surface appearance and greater resistance to scratching, scuffing and soiling. The additional reinforcement also enables the implementation of a 'no polish' machine maintenance programme that provides brilliant good looks and lower costs over the lifetime of the floor.
