A Bristol flooring specialist has been doing its bit for the environment.

Rudge Brothers & James (RBJ) has helped construction and property consultancy Cyril Sweett find an eco solution for its new office refurbishment.

Working closely with interior designers, Wylde IA, RBJ advised on environmentally friendly flooring for the 6,000 sq ft office space in Great George Street.

RBJ laid Milliken’s carbon neutral BREEAM A-rated Rush cushion carpet tiles, and Forbo Marmoleum in staff tea-points and breakout areas.

"To create a design that would meet the needs of a company such as Cyril Sweett was no mean feat," said RBJ’s Jim Heal.

"We chose the Milliken tiles as they provide an aesthetically interesting and eco friendly flooring solution for a large and busy space."

The tiles have a unique cushion backing system, manufactured from 85 per cent recycled open cell polyurethane.

Meanwhile, the lightweight backing helps reduce leg muscle fatigue and absorbs 36dB of sound, reducing disruption from reverberative noise.

Cyril Sweett’s Stuart Butson said: "I particularly like the design flexibility which Wylde IA offered and the sharpness of their designs.

"They captured the essence of Cyril Sweett with an aesthetically-pleasing flooring solution which Rudge Brothers & James installed to perfection."

RBJ are based in Victoria Road, St Phillips, and have been supplying and installing specialist wall and floor coverings for 40 years.
